Everything starts with an idea. However, to succeed and expand your business, it may not be enough. It is important to look beyond your business idea, approaching it as the main hack how to make business grow. Furthermore, it is the main factor of developing a business mindset.

1. Why to Look beyond Your Idea to Make Business Grow

Of course, knowing how to create a business plan and calculating all necessary investments, risks, and profits will ease your business path, but without developing a business mindset, it will be difficult to scale up your business. It is explicitly illustrated in the film directed by Lee Hancock (2016) based on a biographical story of the McDonald brothers. The movie is presented under the title The Founder. However, what its name means does not necessarily point to Maurice McDonald and Richard McDonald, whose last name lies in the foundation of McDonald’s Corporation, focusing on an average family and values. The story is rather about Ray Kroc, showing that the business ability is a must to scale up a business.

The two McDonald brothers developed a brilliant idea, and it can even be called innovative. They even realized it by opening their McDonald’s restaurant, but it was the point at which they stopped. Having an ideally working business model, they did not see beyond it, and it vividly points to the need for having a vision and mission to look beyond the idea. Here, Ray Kroc’s role is shown as the one that represents the entrepreneural ability to expand McDonald’s business model and values to other locations. Thus, the film can be recommended as one of the best in the business category. It can serve as a case study for those who only have a business idea, as well as others who have realized it.

2. Focus on Case Studies to Learn How to Expand Your Business

As it has been mentioned above, The Founder represent’s a good example of thinking beyond limits and developing further. However, it is not the only case study for entrepreneurs to reflect on. There are many of them, and you can search for similar cases related to your business activity to get familiar with possibilities, threats, risks, and weaknesses to avoid. In other words, it is always wise to learn by example and engage in continuous learning. Harvard Business Review has many case studies to analyze and find those related to your business operations.

3. Focus on Giving Value Rather Than Selling

The main advice is to create things that focus on giving value to society rather than earning. Concentrating on creating a product and selling it can directly lead to a failure. Therefore, create something that can benefit society first, and your business afterwards only.

What guidelines can you offer in relation to how to make your business grow? What films can you recommend as case studies on business? Share your thoughts in comments.
