General Formatting Settings for the APA Paper Template
Consider the following key points:
- Font : Times New Roman or Arial, 12
- Margins : 1 inch
- Running head (different for the first page with the title up to 50 characters with spaces) – there are differences in the formatting of headers for APA 6th and 7th editions
- Title page (the title of the paper starts from the 7th line for the 6th edition and 5th line for the 7th edition)
Levels of Headings
- Using Word heading settings, headings should be formatted in such a way:
Level 1 Heading, centered
Heading 2, left-aligned
Level 3 heading. Left-aligned, indented
Heading 4. Left-aligned, indented
Level 5 heading. Left-aligned, indented
